Job Description
3 Rats Entertainment is casting paid roles for “Defiance,” a non-union historical feature film filming in Florida. Set against the Florida wilderness in December 1835, the story follows Major Francis L. Dade and a column of more than 100 U.S. soldiers traveling toward Fort King before a consequential battle at the beginning of the Second Seminole War.
The production is searching for performers to help recreate the people and atmosphere of 1830s Florida, with women being cast as historical settlers and men portraying soldiers. Actors, historical reenactors, and newcomers from Florida and neighboring states are encouraged to apply.
Experience with period productions is helpful but not required. Performers with skills such as horseback riding, wilderness experience, combat performance, or familiarity with flintlock muskets may be especially suited for certain scenes.

• Portray an 1830s settler or soldier in the historical feature film “Defiance.”
• Help create believable period scenes set in the Florida wilderness.
• Perform naturally in outdoor, military, settlement, and action sequences as assigned.
• Follow blocking, movement, and performance direction from the film's production team.
• Work collaboratively with other cast members during large-scale historical scenes.
• Handle period-specific action or equipment when appropriately trained and directed.
• Maintain professionalism and continuity throughout scheduled filming.

• Previous acting or historical reenactment experience is a plus but not required.
• Experience safely handling flintlock muskets is a plus.

• Wilderness, outdoor, military, stunt, or combat-performance experience is beneficial for applicable scenes.
• Applicants should be comfortable working in outdoor environments and portraying characters from the 1830s period.
• This is a non-union feature film production.
