Dental Assistant – Bassett Medical Center

Pay range: $17.67/hr – $17.67/hr (actual pay is based on skills and experience).

• Support dental care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, patients, instruments, and materials.
• Pass instruments and materials to the provider in compliance with dental practice procedures.
• Identify patient concerns, update medical history, and conduct pain assessments.
• Prepare and set up the operatory for procedures and educate patients upon the provider’s request.
• Cross‑cover and assist the front desk as needed.
• Interact with patients and providers with clear, concise communication.
• Prepare patients for scheduled procedures.
• Decontaminate instruments and equipment.
• Prepare instruments for sterilization in accordance with policies.
• Report damaged or missing instruments.
• Order and stock supplies.
• Maintain infection control standards.

• Education: High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Experience: Experience in the dental field preferred.
• Licensure/Certificates: Certified dental assistant (preferred); BLS certification within 6 months of hire (required).
• Skills: Multi‑tasking, self‑motivated, attention to detail, patience, accountability, clinical skills, communication, time management.

• Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping.
• Frequent grasping, hearing, reaching, repetitive motion, visual acuity (color, depth, perception).
• Constant typing/clerical/dexterity, computer use, walking, fit testing.

• Occasional chemical exposure, radiation/radiant energy.
• Frequent bodily fluid and blood borne exposure.

• Occasional noise, vibration, wet or humid conditions, mists, odors.

• Occasional travel required from time to time; not a regular requirement.

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation. The above range demonstrates a good faith belief in the compensation range at the time of posting. Minimum: USD $17.67/hr maximum: USD $26.50/hr.
