We are service-focused. We integrate architecture, design, engineering, historic preservation, and materials conservation in our projects to ensure a structure’s new life is even better than its previous one. This helps ensure our designs and recommended corrective actions are responsive to our clients’ goals and aspirations while remaining sensitive to each building’s original character and potential. We devise sustainable solutions that ensure future viability and create value. We are currently seeking a Project Architect to join the firm.
Responsibilities include conceiving and implementing design solutions for a variety projects. The position requires working directly with the firm's Principal and the Project Manager to prepare design solutions for various architectural projects on existing buildings (most of them designated Landmarks); developing site analysis and outlining applicable zoning and code compliance requirements; preparing Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Documents and coordinating architectural design with all related Interior Design, Sustainability, Historic Preservation, Structural and MEP Engineering disciplines during all project phases;
assisting with filing the proposed work with regulatory agencies (LPC, DOB, SHPO, etc.); leveling bids and preparing bid comparison charts prior to construction contract award; and reviewing the Contractor's work during the construction phase. Other responsibilities include coordinating the project progress with the Project Manager and the Principal; updating office marketing material; and assisting with in-house business development tasks.
Experience with projects in NYC, including involvement with all project phases and submission to LPC and DOB. Adaptability to a dynamic work environment coupled with ability to multitask and work collaboratively on multiple projects phases while responding timely to deadlines. We are looking for a motivated, self-driven applicant with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to develop in-house solutions while focusing on clients' needs.
The ideal candidate would have an architectural degree and/or a M Sc in Architecture, as well as a minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years of previous experience working at an architectural office. Proficiency with BIM (Revit) and computer-aided design (CAD), Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office is required. Architectural registration is not required, but demonstrated progress towards completion of the ARE exams is a must.
