Site Works is a specialty landscape architecture practice that helps translate visionary landscape ideas into reality. We offer a range of technical services encompassing design, executive landscape architecture, specification writing, cost estimating, operations and maintenance planning, constructability reviews, value engineering, construction scheduling and logistics planning, construction inspection and resident landscape architect services. We are seeking a motivated individual who desires a challenging career and increasing responsibilities as a Site Construction Cost Estimator and Technical Specialist to collaborate on public realm projects across all phases of design including parks, waterfronts, streetscapes, plazas, roofscapes, interior landscapes, green infrastructure, wetlands, and natural area eco‑restoration areas.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Prepare quantity take‑offs using schematic design drawings and full‑length construction documents.
- Prepare cost estimates, including development of material, labor and equipment pricing, under the guidance of senior staff.
- Assist with the preparation of site management plans and management estimates under the guidance of senior staff.
- Assist in the preparation of schematic designs and construction drawings under the direction of senior staff.
- Assist with tree inventories under the direction of our Certified Arborists.
- Assist with the organization and management of construction phase documentation including contractor submittals and RFIs.
- Assist with construction oversight including field visits, preparation of site reports, photo logs, and meeting records.
- Participate in regular professional development, training, and certification activities.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in landscape architecture or related field.
- 0‑2 years of experience in professional practice.
- Demonstrated facility with AutoCAD for construction documentation.
- Demonstrated facility with Microsoft Word and Excel, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.

- Effective collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with estimating in CSI and non‑standard formats
- Familiarity with sustainable design and green infrastructure strategies
- Experience with New York City, New York State, and New Jersey public agencies a plus.
- Experience using Rhino and/or Sketch Up is a plus.
- International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) arborist certification is a plus.
We manage our studio as a fast‑paced environment where design, construction, and long‑term management are viewed as equally important to a project’s success. We offer competitive compensation including holidays, three weeks of personal time off, health insurance, a 401K plan, and a continuing education allowance. Our typical work week is 40 hours.
After an introductory period, work is on a hybrid schedule, with staff working remotely on Mondays and Fridays, and in the office on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Remote days will vary as needed depending upon project deadlines and client meetings. Full‑time in‑office work is acceptable at any time.
