Join to apply for the Senior Product Designer role at California Coast University
.

Coast is re‑imagining the trillion‑dollar U.S. B2B card payments infrastructure, focusing on commercial fleets, vehicles, and drivers. The incumbent technologies are decades old, and drivers and fleets increasingly demand modern digital experiences and affordable and transparent financial services products. Coast’s mission is to deliver them at a transformational scale, beginning with the Coast Fleet and Fuel Card built on a cutting‑edge spend management platform.

The Senior Product Designer will own the design of a modern payments platform targeting small to medium sized businesses. You’ll work with PMs, designers, and engineers who are thoughtful, friendly, and experienced. In this role, you will work directly with stakeholders, make decisions quickly, and create designs that have a high degree of impact on the company’s growth.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Play a critical role in bringing design thinking and a user‑centric perspective to the product development process
  • Lead design projects of significant complexity and scope
  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering to bring features from ideation to implementation
  • Communicate design decisions and thinking clearly, and help build consensus among stakeholders
  • Get close to our users by conducting user research, developing personas, and validating designs through usability testing
  • Become deeply knowledgeable about the product roadmap and user workflows
  • Find opportunities to iterate on and constantly improve the existing product
What We’re Looking For
  • 4+ years of experience, ideally at a B2B company or startup
  • Expertise in wire framing, prototyping, and Figma
  • Experience with maintaining and contributing to design systems
  • Portfolio that demonstrates user‑focused thinking to create prototypes and high‑fidelity designs
  • Demonstrated ability to understand a product at a deep level and to drive/participate in user research
  • Ability to balance the need for a beautiful, delightful interface with the pragmatic concerns of delivery
  • The ability to work independently with little oversight in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with high‑energy, mission‑driven colleagues
  • Good organization, with the ability to clearly communicate ideas and design principles
Nice to Haves
  • Fintech experience (a plus, but not required)
  • Familiarity with Adobe CC

  • Salary range: $170,000 – $190,000
  • Signing bonus
  • Equity grant: commensurate with level determined at the discretion of the company, with meaningful potential upside given the company’s early stage

  • Paid parental leave
  • $400 accessories allowance (a keyboard, mouse, headphones, etc.)
  • Education stipend
  • Free lunch every Friday
