The Architecture & Design Lead will report to the Head of Architecture & Design, Global Flagships, RLA+D Studio, developing the design and seeing the design process through to completion for focal freestanding retail stores for both new buildouts and the renovations of existing stores. The product brands include Ralph Lauren, Ralph Lauren Children’s and RRL. A high level of design expertise and input is expected.

  • Partner with RLSD management team on development of retail brand concepts, designing of new retail stores, renovations, and fixture programs.
  • Partner with Business/Sales, Merchandising & Retail Teams to integrate their needs and goals in the development of retail stores.
  • Manage development and direction of multiple projects in partnership with manager.
  • As needed manage project managers who are responsible for the day-to-day management of new store projects as well as renovation projects for Ralph Lauren Retail.
  • Lead design reviews, critiques, and approvals to maintain high-quality outcomes.
  • Oversee/support/Maintain Project Managers Daily Duties.
  • Produce schematic design and design development packages for new retail stores and renovations.
  • Responsible for project management including design, construction, millwork shop drawing review, budget and schedule maintenance.
  • Coordinate project scope with various consultants:
    Lighting, Engineer, Production Architect, Code and Construction Manager.
  • Coordinate project’s program requirements with Polo in-house departments;
    Decorative, Merchants and Operations.
  • Maintain constant dialogue with managers regarding status and progress of projects.
  • Team Leadership & Development.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire architects and designers at all levels.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and design-driven studio culture through regular in-office engagement.
  • Support professional growth, performance feedback, and career development within the design team.
  • Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and retaining top design talent.

Salary range: $90,000 - $155,000 annually

  • High-level experience in high-end/luxury retail design or with high end/luxury residential/commercial architecture/interior design firm(s)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2007 (or more recent version)
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project
  • Familiarity beneficial in Adobe applications (Photoshop CS4, Acrobat X Pro) and Autodesk applications (Buzzsaw 2011, Design Review 2011, DWG True View 2011
  • Understanding of traditional classical architectural design and components as well as modern design.
  • Must have a high level of design skills; ability to sketch and hand draw
  • Knowledge of millwork standards, details and construction
  • Analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects
