Job DescriptionLiz O’Brien is a top New York City destination for design. Our clients include the AD100, Elle Décor A-List, prestigious private collectors and museums. Our program features unique vintage pieces alongside work by contemporary makers and our own furniture collection.
Responsibilities- Be the friendly, professional first point of contact for visitors
- Interact with clients and provide product information promptly and engagingly
- Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
- Answer telephone calls
- Provide excellent customer service
- Enter new pieces into Artlogic inventory system, including measuring, photographing and condition reports
- Write object descriptions concisely and professionally
- Update website and e‑commerce platforms (, )
- Track pieces moving between primary location, storage, vendors, and clients
- Coordinate deliveries and installations
- Request quotes from shipping partners
- Prepare invoices and documentation
- Follow up with colleagues, clients and vendors as needed
- Work effectively within a collaborative team environment
- Support gallery owner and director in daily operations
- Maintain neat work environment, order office supplies, liaise with IT for technical issues
- Prepare for exhibition openings, book signings, art fairs; attend industry events
- Bachelor’s degree
- Prior gallery, auction house or showroom/retail experience (a plus)
- Interest in art and design (required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Photoshop (required)
- Proficiency in Artlogic, Word Press and Quick Books (big plus)
- Basic knowledge of CAD/technical drawings (unicorn request)
- Ability to work with integrity, trust and commitment
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Self‑directed, detail‑oriented, solutions‑oriented, ownership mindset
Health insurance and paid time off. Flexible schedule with additional hours during exhibition openings and art fairs (1‑2 times a year). The position is full‑time and in‑person.
