Principal Product Designer – Design Systems

We are partnering with a highly innovative, fast-growing global technology company to hire an exceptional Staff / Principal Product Designer – Design Systems. This is a rare opportunity to shape the design language and user experience of a sophisticated technology platform spanning 40+ products. Our client is making a significant investment in design systems, with approximately 18 dedicated engineers supporting the team.

They are looking for someone who can think strategically, deliver exceptional design work, and embrace AI-powered tools to redefine how scalable product experiences are created. This is not a traditional design systems role focused solely on component libraries, tokens, or design documentation. We are looking for a hands‑on design leader who can establish scalable interaction patterns, elevate visual and UX quality, and bring consistency to complex product experiences across web and mobile.

The Opportunity:

This is a rare opportunity to shape the design language and user experience of a sophisticated technology platform spanning 40+ products, leading the evolution of a unified design system and driving platform-wide design initiatives from concept and strategy through hands‑on execution.

• Lead the evolution of a unified design system across a large, multi-product technology platform.
• Design scalable UX patterns, reusable workflows and interaction frameworks that extend beyond traditional component libraries.
• Define and elevate visual design, interaction quality and user experience across multiple product teams.
• Help shape and expand the mobile design system, ensuring excellent experiences across web and mobile platforms.
• Leverage AI-assisted coding and prototyping tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex and ChatGPT to build, test and refine product experiences.
• Explore AI-powered approaches to evaluating design quality, accessibility and consistency.
• Collaborate closely with product designers, engineers and product managers to translate design vision into production-ready experiences.
• Drive platform-wide design initiatives from concept and strategy through hands‑on execution.

• 10+ years of experience in Product Design, UX Design or Design Systems, including experience at Staff, Principal or Lead level.

• Proven experience designing and scaling design systems across multiple products or complex digital platforms.
• Strong understanding of reusable UX patterns, interaction frameworks and scalable design architecture.
• Experience with complex B2B SaaS platforms, enterprise products, developer tools or multi-product ecosystems.
• Hands‑on experience using AI-assisted coding and prototyping tools, such as Cursor, Claude Code or Codex.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
• Ability to influence design direction while remaining actively involved in hands‑on design and prototyping.
• Strong collaboration skills and experience partnering with engineering and product teams.

• Background in organisations recognised for exceptional product design and user experience.
• Experience using code to prototype interfaces or validate design implementations.
• Experience developing design quality frameworks, automated design checks or AI-powered design workflows.
