Director of Design and Merchandising

As Director of Design & Merchandising – Decorative Pillows
, you will lead the creative direction and development of trend-driven decorative pillow collections, with a strong emphasis on textile design, product merchandising, materials, and commercially relevant design. You will oversee seasonal concepts, assortment development, product execution, and the design team while partnering closely with Sales, Product Development, and Production.

• Lead the creative direction, seasonal design strategy, and assortment development for decorative pillows.
• Research and translate trends in color, print, pattern, texture, materials, and home décor into commercially relevant collections.
• Drive product merchandising and line building, balancing design, fabrication, price points, product mix, and retailer needs.
• Direct the development of original artwork, prints, patterns, embroideries, textures, constructions, and decorative techniques.
• Identify new product opportunities, innovative materials, and assortment strategies to support category growth.
• Remain hands-on throughout the design process, from concept development and CADs through sampling and final product.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the design team while overseeing creative execution, priorities, and timelines.
• Review artwork, CADs, tech packs, and samples to maintain design intent, quality, and consistency.
• Partner with Sales on buyer presentations, retailer-specific assortments, and merchandising strategies.
• Collaborate with Product Development, Sourcing, and Production on materials, costing, construction, and product execution.
• Work with overseas manufacturing partners on fabric development, sampling, and production techniques.

• Proven experience leading and mentoring design teams.
• Strong background in trend forecasting, concept development, product merchandising, and line building.
• Excellent eye for color, print, pattern, texture, fabrications, and textile construction.
• Ability to translate trends into cohesive, commercially viable collections for major retailers.
• Strong understanding of product development, materials, manufacturing techniques, and price-point positioning.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Experience working with overseas factories and cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Surface Design, Fashion Design, Fine Arts, or related field preferred.
