Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; Per Diem

Overview

Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital (JDCH), part of the Memorial Healthcare System, is seeking a Per Diem BE/BC Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join its inpatient behavioral health team. This position offers flexible coverage primarily on nights and weekends and holidays, with the potential for additional weekday coverage during the provider’s time off. The role is available for an immediate start, with an open-ended duration.

The psychiatrist will provide inpatient psychiatric care, including consultation in the pediatric emergency department and psychiatric emergency assessment unit. Occasionally, outpatient support may be required, such as medication refill requests when outpatient providers are unavailable. The typical schedule includes weekend coverage from Saturday 8:00 AM through Monday 8:00 AM, with weekday rounding on an every-other-day call basis. The psychiatrist is on 24-hour call on days they round, with overnight calls taken by phone only, eliminating the need to remain in the hospital overnight.

Psychiatrists complete psychiatric admission notes, while physical exams and histories & physicals are completed by pediatric hospitalists. Time allotted for new evaluations and follow-ups is flexible, provided all patients are seen and documented in a timely manner. The psychiatrist will work alongside a multidisciplinary team that includes psychologists, pharmacists, therapists, nurses, behavioral technicians, and a broad psychosocial support staff, such as art and music therapists, child life specialists, and social workers.

• Provide inpatient psychiatric care and consultations in the pediatric emergency department and psychiatric emergency assessment unit.
• Occasionally provide outpatient support, such as medication refills when outpatient providers are unavailable.
• Document new evaluations and follow-ups in a timely manner; complete psychiatric admission notes in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in a multidisciplinary team with psychologists, pharmacists, therapists, nurses, behavioral technicians, and psychosocial support staff.

• Be/Board Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BE/BC).
• Per Diem position with availability for immediate start; flexible scheduling including nights, weekends, and holidays.
