Salary Range: $152,000 - $175,000
The Department of Pediatrics at Columbia University Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant for a full-time position in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York‑Presbyterian. The Physician Assistant will provide 24/7 coverage of the PICU/PCICU under the supervision of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellows and attending physicians, performing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow‑up, and outcome evaluation of ICU patients.
The individual will also participate in performance improvement, research, and educational activities.
- Obtain patient history, perform physical examinations, and develop care plans for ICU patients.
- Order and review appropriate laboratory, radiographic, and cardiac studies as part of the patient care plan.
- Assist in the management of medical emergencies and provide appropriate care when a physician is unavailable, documenting all care rendered.
- Assist the attending physician or fellow on any procedure within the PA’s scope of practice.
- Initiate subspecialty consultations or evaluations as needed.
- Counsel and instruct patients and their families.
- Communicate the transition of care from the ICU to step‑down or floor units.
- Ensure all medical records and notes are counter‑signed by the attending physician.
- Comply with all applicable HIPAA, billing compliance, and safety guidelines.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned or requested.
- Master’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus two years of experience.
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- At least one year of experience in Pediatrics, Pediatric Critical Care, or Critical Care Medicine.
- Current NYS professional license, board certification by NCCPA.
- DEA license.
- BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.
- Ability to meet New York‑Presbyterian Hospital credentialing requirements.
