Productivity Standards

• You are responsible for all assigned patients on the Psychiatric Emergency Room Service at NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn and will be expected to follow the appropriate department protocols for documentation of their care
• You are expected to carry an appropriate caseload of patients. This will include managing four (4) Psychiatric Emergency Room beds and providing consultation services to Psychiatric patients located at NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn.

• Completion of clinical documentation by end of shift;
• Maintain an average of at least seven (7) assessments per 12-hour clinical period;
• Staff debriefing completed and documented for greater than 90% of behavioral events;
• Appropriateness of laboratory tests ordered.

• Provide primary psychiatric and medical care to all assigned patients, including evaluation, determination of psychiatric disorder, formulation of treatment plan and all necessary documentation including timely completion of discharge summaries;
• Responsible for liaison with other disciplines, patient families and institutions, as appropriate;
• Attend multidisciplinary unit meetings daily or as otherwise directed;
• Maintain appropriate clinical documentation to ensure compliance with current standards of clinical practice and adherence to all regulatory-accreditation standards;
• Attend Unit, Department and Hospital meetings as required and directed;
• Participate in Quality Improvement initiatives and clinical/administrative mandates;
• Fulfill CME requirements as established by the Hospital Medical Staff Office;
• Participate in programmatic efforts and interventions to sustain full compliance with Joint Commission and regulatory agency standards of clinical care;
• You are required to provide PTO coverage of the Psychiatric ER for fifteen (15) shifts per year, which may include daytime (7am - 7pm) or overnight (7pm - 7am) coverage. In the event you provide overnight coverage, you will receive additional compensation in the amount of Fifty Dollars ($50) per hour as the night differential. In addition, if you provide overnight coverage in the course of your scheduled work week, the following day will be considered a paid day off.

• New York State licensed
• Board Certified in Psychiatry
• Engaged physicians who are excited about working with and contributing to the education of psychiatry residents and medical students

The position includes a faculty appointment commensurate with qualifications at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine (NYUGSOM).
