Psychiatrist - Adult Inpatient - Unit Chief

Overview

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding an Adult Inpatient Unit Chief to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. The Behavioral Health Center offers a comprehensive suite of services for mental health, including First Episode Psychosis, medical services, substance use treatment, and inpatient/outpatient services for adults and children. Our team includes adult and child/adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, internists, nurses, social workers, and other professionals dedicated to compassionate, patient-centered care.

• Provides psychiatric consultation to unit/service Director, ensuring appropriate medication management and legal sign-off for admission, discharge, and other medically appropriate documentation.

Adult Inpatient/-MH unit.

• Provides direct psychiatric evaluation, assessment, and treatment.
• Assists in the completion of appropriate mental hygiene legal papers.
• Provides consultation and input to the multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Collaborates in running community and family meetings and maintains a therapeutic milieu.
• Consults in preparing transfer materials for state hospitals and other aftercare facilities.
• Assists in preparation for regulatory agency surveys and ensures compliance with standards.
• Supports ward coverage in coordination with the unit Director to ensure continuous patient care and documentation.
• Works with OPPWDD, NY Start/step-down units, residential settings, and other agencies to coordinate patient care.

• Participation in national START team medical directors study group.
• Training allied professionals in dual diagnosis of patients with /D distress and psychiatric disorders.

• Must be board eligible or board certified in Psychiatry.
• MD or DO from an accredited school of medicine.
• Completed residency training in Psychiatry.
• License to practice medicine in the State of New York.

Annual Base Salary: $288,000 based on 40-hour work week. Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.

Estimated total compensation and benefits package: approximately $420,800, including base salary, 401(k) contribution, sessional/per diem hours, CME reimbursement, PTO, medical/dental coverage, life/AD&D coverage, loan forgiveness potential, malpractice coverage, FSAs, and visa sponsorship consideration.

• Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours per week: $104,000.
• 401(k) Company Contribution: 3% immediately; after one year, an additional 7% (no employee match required).
