Summary

New York Harbor - Manhattan Campus is seeking a Physician Assistant with a specialty in Cardiology. Duties include ongoing evaluation and assessment of inpatients and outpatients seen within a specialty clinic setting, including the management of required labs, medications, consultation, and/or follow-up planning on known cardiology pathology.

Duties
  • Provide comprehensive guideline-directed evidence-based care to patients within all areas of general cardiology independently and in collaboration with cardiologists.
  • Act as one of a group of Cardiology Advanced Practice Providers, primarily (but not exclusively) in consultative cardiology, responding to cardiology consult requests from within the hospital.
  • Primary functions:
    Provide comprehensive guideline-directed evidence-based care to patients with general cardiology medical issues; implement assessment, diagnosis, and management of cardiac patients with complex co-morbidities; obtain health histories, perform physical exams, and document findings in the medical record.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic procedures, act on results, prescribe individualized pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for treatment of cardiac conditions and related medical problems to promote quality of life, wellness, and improved outcomes.
  • Educate patients, significant others, and affiliated medical center staff on health care issues (e.g., medications, diet, lifestyle changes, and follow up).
  • Facilitate the completion of informed consent prior to cardiac procedures, admit and discharge patients to OBS status post-invasive cardiac procedures, mentor APRN students, and serve as consultant and resource to other departments within and outside the medical center regarding cardiology consultation patients.
  • Provide cardiology-focused in‑services and education programs to medical center staff and affiliates.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multiple other disciplines; work schedule: 8 am‑4:30 pm.
  • Monday‑Friday; financial disclosure report: not required.
