Job Overview

The Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) is seeking a Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2 to serve as a member of the Creedmoor Addiction Treatment Center’s (ATC’s) multidisciplinary treatment team. The incumbent will carry out psychiatric examinations and assessments, make diagnoses, write physician’s orders, determine the need for and carry out consultations with external psychiatric personnel, educate patients individually, participate with other clinical staff on the treatment team, respond to psychiatric emergencies, carry out discharge planning and post discharge referral, carry out quality improvement activities, may supervise a Nurse Practitioner Psychiatry, and other job-related tasks as assigned.

Computer skills are required, as well as flexibility to assist at other ATCs within the region as needed.

Salary:
Psychiatrist 2 - $283,577 & Psychiatrist 1 - $270,356

Plus location pay $4,000

The Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) oversees one of the nation’s largest substance use disorder systems of care.

• Overseeing approximately 1,700 prevention, harm reduction, treatment and recovery programs that serve over 680,000 individuals per year.
• Inspecting and monitoring over 900 chemical dependence treatment programs to ensure quality of care and compliance with standards. This includes operating 12 State-run Addiction Treatment Centers (ATCs).
• Providing comprehensive education and prevention programs through school and community-based providers.
• Coordination of state-federal relations in the area of addiction services.
• Monitoring gambling and substance use disorder trends in New York State.
• Linking clients served by other agencies and within the criminal justice system to addiction services.
• Providing education and training to persons dealing with clients.
• Administering the credentialing of alcoholism and substance use counselors, problem gambling counselors, prevention practitioners and prevention specialists in New York State.
• Approving the establishment, incorporation and/or construction of facilities offering substance use disorder services in New York State.

Psychiatrist 2:
Must possess a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).

Psychiatrist 1:
Must possess a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).

Candidates must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. Failure to maintain licensure, certification and Medicaid/Medicare eligibility will result in the termination of employment.
