Position: Staff Physician - Correctional Health Services (Float) Various Location
Location: New York

Staff Physician - Correctional Health Services (Float) – Various Location

Physician Affiliate Group of New York, P.C. (PAGNY) – Division of Correctional Health Services (CHS) – New York City Health + Hospitals.

Base pay range
: $103.37/hr – $103.37/hr.

CHS provides primary and specialty medical care to the NYC jail system, including 24-hour on-call psychiatric service, substance use treatment, and re-entry services. Staff physicians deliver primary care in jail-based clinics, perform intake evaluations, provide emergency care with support from Emergency Medicine physicians, and work in a single-payer system with no billing administrative work.

Responsibilities
  • Complete comprehensive histories and physicals on all new admissions.
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illness.
  • Evaluate the need for consult services and submit the prioritized consult when indicated.
  • Review all on island/off-island specialty consult clinic and hospital returns.
  • Ensure the standard of care is met and implement consultant recommendations.
  • Respond to emergencies and fire drills on a priority basis in a timely and professional manner.
  • Familiarize with performance indicators (P.I.) and take appropriate measures to comply with these standards.
  • Request radiology exams, laboratory tests, and EKGs when indicated and interpret results in conjunction with the patient’s clinical status.
  • Notify Urgicare for 3-hour/EMS runs.
  • Generate medical modifications as needed.
  • Maintain clinical competency by reviewing CHS protocols, current medical literature, and C.M.E.’s.
  • Provide clinical supervision for P.A.’s/N.P.’s, including co-signing of notes and medication orders.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures of CHS and review them as needed.
  • Attend all mandatory in-services.
  • Comply with Employee Health requirements.
