Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding an Outpatient Psychiatrist to the Behavioral Health group at NYC Health + Hospitals/ North Central Bronx. NCB is a 457-bed community hospital providing quality care in a friendly setting. This facility offers a range of services and is known for its outstanding Behavioral Health, Women’s Health, Primary Care, Pediatric, Geriatric and Specialty Ambulatory services.

North Central Bronx has a reputation for its devotion to the needs of its patients and has created programs tailored to provide dedicated care to the community it serves. The department of Psychiatry has 3 Adult Inpatient Units, a satellite CPEP, a Psychiatry Consultation Liaison service, a Partial Hospital Program, an Outpatient Department, and an ACT team.

Responsibilities
  • The attending will have overall responsibility and work with an experienced multidisciplinary clinical staff to provide hands‑on direct clinical assessment, diagnosis, acute stabilization and management, crisis intervention and care, and appropriate disposition for a cohort of geriatric inpatients.
  • The attending will have responsibility for clinical and educational activities on a 23‑bed acute Geriatric/adult inpatient unit, including participation in a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Direct supervision of Psychologists, Social Workers, Psychiatric PA staff and Medical Students.
  • Participation in all activities related to clinical care and documentation of care, performance improvement, regulatory compliance, and student supervision, education & training.
  • Participate in our innovative integrative care activities.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the Privacy and Security rules outlined in the HIPAA guidelines.
  • Successfully completes the mandatory one‑day HIPAA Training.
  • Adheres and conforms to all hospital and departmental guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Examines patients, orders or performs appropriate diagnostic tests.
  • Formulates diagnosis, directs or performs appropriate therapeutic treatment and counsels patients.
  • Consults with other members of the professional staff.
  • Gives guidance and direction to the house staff and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Provides guidance and participates in the teaching of house staff, in staff conferences, and in research projects as directed.
  • Advises the less experienced members of the professional medical staff.
  • Plans, organizes and directs the operation of a major segment within a medical service or medical program in a hospital or similar health facility; or assists the Chief of Service in the planning, organizing and directing of the entire medical service or medical program.
  • Assists in the administration and coordination of the service.
  • Assists in the establishment and maintenance of standards of performance for physicians and other professional employees working in the service.
  • Performs other administrative, professional, consultative duties as needed by the Chief of Service.
  • Participates in medical research.
  • Prepares daily work log as required.
  • Adheres to the departmental attendance policy.
  • All other duties as required by the department.
Qualifications
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry.
  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine.
  • License to practice medicine in the State of New York.
  • Proven ability to make sound and quick triage, treatment, and disposition decisions.
Wages and Benefits

Annual Base Salary: $267,900* (board eligible); $278,200* (board certified) based on a 40‑hour work week. Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.

The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $438,690** (board eligible) and $450,020** (board certified), which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, sessional/per diem hours, and other factors as set forth below:

  • Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours worked per week is $104,000***.
  • Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
