The Department of Pediatrics in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo (UB), and Golisano Children’s Hospital of Buffalo is seeking a senior level faculty member to serve as Vice Chair for Faculty Development in the Department of Pediatrics. The ideal candidate will be board certified in pediatrics and spend 0.6 FTE in their clinical care sub-specialty, and dedicate 0.4 FTE toward the responsibility and oversight of the full range of faculty development activities for early career, mid-career and senior faculty within the department.
Responsibilities- Oversee recruitment, retention, and promotion of faculty members within the department
- Nurture faculty by providing tools that allow contributions in the educational, research, clinical and advocacy missions of the department, and community at large
- Oversee new leadership training opportunities, and promote faculty professionalism and well-being initiatives
- Assist the Chair in fostering an environment that values and promotes faculty development, serving as the chief departmental advocate for investment and improvement in these efforts
- Advise the Chair on identifying faculty development priorities, funding needs, and infrastructure support
- Ensure that the department’s faculty development programs function consistently with our department values, especially in the area of diversity, equity and inclusion
- Serve as an alternate representative for the Chair on university committees relevant to faculty development and wellness initiatives
- MD, DO, or equivalent degree
- Board certified in Pediatrics
- Experience in research and mentoring trainees and faculty
