Position: ADDICTION MEDICINE FELLOW

Brief Description The Addiction Medicine Fellow will receive advanced training in the prevention, diagnosis,imli, and treatment of substance use disorders. Under supervision, fellows will provide direct patient care in outpatient and inpatient settings, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and participate in teaching, research, and community‑based initiatives. This fellowship prepares physicians to sit for the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) Addiction Medicine certification exam.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and evidence‑based treatment for patients with substance use disorders.
  • Deliver care in multiple settings including primary care, inpatient consultation services, outpatient specialty clinics, and community‑based programs.
  • Prescribe and manage FDA‑approved medications for addiction treatment (e.g., buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone).
  • Collaborate with behavioral health, social work, and other providers to ensure integrated, patient‑centered care.
  • Participate in didactics, journal clubs, case conferences, and supervision sessions.
  • Engage in research, quality improvement, or scholarly activities related to addiction medicine.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and other trainees.
  • Uphold ethical standards, patient safety, and cultural humility in all aspects of care.
Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board‑eligible or board‑certified in a primary specialty (e.g., Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN).
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the state.
  • Demonstrated interest in addiction medicine, public health, or community‑based care.
  • Strong communication, clinical, and leadership skills.
