Director of Art Education – One River School of Art + Design

Salary: $60,000 – $80,000 per year (base pay) plus quarterly performance bonuses

One River School of Art + Design seeks an experienced art education leader to drive the quality of our educational experience. The Director will oversee new teacher recruitment and management, student retention, student and outcome progress, and community engagement through exhibitions and events. Our Manhasset campus features two gallery spaces, four classrooms—three fine‑arts studios and one digital art lab.

• Recruit, lead and manage part‑time educators and teaching artists to deliver exceptional learning experiences.
• Teach weekly drawing and painting classes, ensuring students reach their full artistic potential.
• Develop and sustain relationships with community members and external partners, organizing gallery exhibitions and related outreach activities.

• Master’s degree in Fine Arts or Art Education.
• Extensive experience in art education, including hiring, training, and managing teachers.
• Strong leadership, motivational skills, and a service‑oriented, detail‑oriented work style.
• Capacity to balance classroom teaching with the administrative and business aspects of running the school.
