- Design and implement appropriate instruction of content area(s)/course(s) assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
- Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
- Deliver relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
- Utilize a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to meet individual student needs.
- Observe and evaluate student performance and mastery of standards, monitor assessment data, and maintain student grades and attendance.
- Manage student behavior with effective classroom management strategies and appropriate disciplinary procedures.
- Communicate with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourage parental involvement.
- Take responsible precautions to provide for health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Adequately maintain and secure confidential records, inquiries, and data; maintain appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required.
- Performs any other duties as assigned; responsibilities may change as determined by the needs of the district.
- Communications: express ideas verbally and in writing; exhibit good listening and comprehension; keep others informed; select appropriate communication methods.
- Job Knowledge: competent in required job skills and knowledge; ability to learn and apply new skills; stay current with developments; requires minimal supervision; understand how job relates to others; use resources effectively.
- Judgment: able to make timely decisions; explain reasoning; involve appropriate people in decision-making processes.
- Project Management: develop project plans, coordinate projects, communicate changes and progress; complete projects on time and within budget.
- Planning and Organizing: prioritize and plan work activities; manage time efficiently; set goals and objectives; work in an organized manner.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Florida Professional Educator Certificate preferred. Eligibility for Florida Temporary Certificate required.
Physical Demands
:
Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing. Lifting up to 10 pounds. Reaching with dominant and non-dominant hands; overhead. Environment: moderate noise.
