Overview

The Early Pre-Professional Career Advisor provides academic advising and graduate program guidance through individual coaching, advising, and programming to undergraduate students in pre-health and pre-law programs. They will serve as the first point of contact for early-phase students interested in pre-health, allied health, other helping professions, and pre-law. This advisor will collaborate with individuals and offices across campus, including senior pre-med/pre-health/pre-law advisors, admissions, academic departments, and student organizations, to develop programming to support students’ career interests and goals.

This advisor will report to the Dean of Arts & Sciences and will be integral in developing career paths and opportunities for students related to the health/helping and law professions. This role will utilize an early alert system to oversee student cases and connect them with appropriate resources such as coaching, tutors, and academic support. The pre-professional career advisor will support all students pursuing a health or law related career by ensuring necessary academic support is in place for all to succeed with a particular focus on equity and access for underrepresented students.

This role will communicate with and advise both prospective and current students, facilitate initiatives to support pre-professional students (including recruiting industry and academic partners, and organizing and participating in key events). Through presentations, event promotion, and personalized outreach, this role will help students capitalize on opportunities they might otherwise miss, further enhancing their academic success, early career exploration opportunities, and their overall competitiveness in the application process.

The Early Pre-Professional Career Advisor will expand existing opportunities for pre-law students to ensure a comparable level of support for their success.
