The School Psychologist will be part of the Catholic Charities mental health initiative, collaborating with all members of assigned Catholic schools and the Cardinal McCloskey Charter School. The role includes collaborating with the treatment team, especially classroom teachers, to share observation and assessment results and interpretations related to each child’s emotional, behavioral, and academic functioning, creating an integrated treatment approach. The psychologist will communicate with families and referral sources about each child’s strengths, weaknesses, and needs, and will participate in the Committee on Special Education process and in the development and implementation of research projects.
Individual counseling will be provided to children who do not have mandated services and require support.
- Collaborate with all members of the assigned Catholic schools and the Cardinal McCloskey Charter School.
- Share observation and assessment results with the treatment team, especially classroom teachers, for integrated treatment planning.
- Communicate with families and referral sources about each child’s strengths, weaknesses, and needs.
- Participate in the Committee on Special Education process.
- Participate in the development and implementation of research projects.
- Provide individual counseling to children in need who do not have mandated services.
- Master’s degree in School Psychology.
- Current certification as a NY State School Psychologist.
- Experience working with children with trauma histories.
- Experience delivering classroom-wide evidence-based treatments.
