SUNY Ulster County Community College, a two‑year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is currently accepting applications for an Adjunct Instructor in Biology to begin in August 2024. We are particularly seeking instructors who can teach general biology and/or anatomy and physiology. Under the supervision of the area coordinator and academic department, adjunct instructors will provide instruction in accordance with established course syllabi and departmental and college policies.

Courses may be taught either day or evening on the SUNY Ulster main campus in Stone Ridge or at the SUNY Ulster Kingston Center on Mary’s Avenue in Kingston.

• Meet each scheduled class and teach or conduct learning exercises for the entire period.
• Contact the appropriate division chair or administrator in advance to make arrangements for unavoidable absences.
• Provide each student at the beginning of the course with written information about the course, to include a full description of the grading system and how the student will be evaluated.
• Accurately keep required class records on attendance, withdrawal and grading.
• Submit when due, all necessary reports such as attendance and grade reports, roll books, and class information sheets, and certify as to their accuracy.
• Comply with all institutional policies and procedures.
• Give careful attention to all bulletins, memorandums and emails from administrative offices.
• Check faculty mailbox and SUNY Ulster email frequently.

• Masters’ degree in Biology or the equivalent (as determined by SUNY Ulster faculty).
• Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio‑economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non‑traditional and/or re‑entry students with diverse abilities and interests.

Salary: $1,049.00 per credit.
