Emet Classical Academy is a Jewish preparatory school for 5th to 12th graders on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Emet Classical Academy seeks an exceptional Middle and High School Mathematics Teacher who brings deep content expertise, joyful rigor, and a commitment to classical education. The ideal candidate has experience teaching across the middle and upper grades, including advanced coursework through Pre-Calculus, Calculus AB/BC, and Statistics, and can inspire students to see mathematics as a discipline rooted in logic, wonder, and problem-solving.
CoreResponsibilities
- Teach a range of Middle and Upper School math courses, potentially including:
- Pre-Algebra & Algebra I
- Geometry
- Algebra II
- Pre-Calculus
- AP Calculus AB/BC
- AP Statistics
- Develop clear, sequenced, and challenging curriculum informed by classical pedagogy.
- Utilize a balance of conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and application.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure vertical alignment of the math sequence.
- Provide thoughtful, timely feedback that promotes mastery and student confidence.
- Serve as an advisor and contribute to school culture, assemblies, and community life.
- Bachelor's degree required; master's or advanced coursework strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success teaching high-level mathematics to motivated students.
- Deep understanding of classical pedagogy or willingness to be trained in it.
- Strong communication skills, warmth, and clarity.
