Why Hate Math (WHM) is a math education company dedicated to providing high-quality tutoring services to K-12 students and adult learners in college or continuing education settings. WHM focuses on preparing students to excel academically and be competitive in STEM fields, fostering innovation and leadership potential in these areas. In addition to tutoring, WHM collaborates with schools and districts to offer professional development for educators, math consulting for administrators, and in-school tutoring services.

With a comprehensive approach, WHM aims to improve math education and ensure student success.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in various schools in Brooklyn, New York. As a Math Coach for Eureka Math and State Exam Preparation, you will provide support to teachers and students to enhance their understanding of mathematics. Responsibilities include designing and implementing math coaching sessions, aiding in curriculum development, supporting preparation for state exams, and delivering professional development workshops.

You will collaborate closely with educators and school administrators to improve instructional strategies and student outcomes in mathematics.

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Mathematics, including expertise in concepts relevant to middle school levels and state exam standards.
  • Strong skills in Coaching and Mathematics Education to guide teachers and students effectively.
  • Experience in Curriculum Development and applying Eureka Math, illustrative math, and envision and state exam prep.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse groups of students, teachers, and administrators.
  • Proven experience in teaching, coaching, or tutoring in a math-focused context.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Education, or a related field; advanced degree in a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with math standards and testing frameworks is a significant advantage.
Salary Range
  • $37.50 – $68.50 per hour, based on experience
