University Preparatory Charter School for Young Men is currently seeking candidates for a Computer Technology 8 Teacher position for the school year. UPREP seeks a passionate Computer Technology Teacher (Middle & High School) to join our faculty. Computer Technology teachers are responsible for teaching students about the hardware and software used in modern computer systems. They will also develop students’ 21st‑Century digital literacy skills (i.e. coding), cyber‑security and STEM knowledge. Instructors must have an extensive knowledge of computer technology and remain at the forefront of cutting‑edge technology, practices, resources, and developments within the field.
GeneralJob Responsibilities
- Develop NYS Standard units and lesson plans for technology courses such as Web Design, Tech 7, Tech 8, etc.
- Implement culturally relevant curricula and project‑based activities aligned with NYS Academic Technology Standards.
- Design and implement assessments that measure progress toward academic standards, using assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.
- Develop strong classroom‑management skills; establish rewards and/or consequences for student behavior.
- Participate in collaborative curriculum development, department activities, and school‑wide functions throughout the school year.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Participate in an annual staff orientation and training (annually in August).
- Comply with all School‑Wide Expectations and Systems (Reporting Time, Staff Absence, Black‑Out Dates, Behavioral Referrals, Parent Contact).
- Any additional duties as assigned.
Job Responsibilities
- Teach students how to use different computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Maintain computer hardware and software for school computers, including troubleshooting technical problems when they occur.
- Evaluate new computer technologies and applications, making recommendations about their use in the classroom.
- Help students learn basic computer skills such as using a mouse or keyboard.
- Provide technical support for faculty members who need assistance with using school computers.
- Design lesson plans that incorporate technology into instruction.
- Develop a curriculum for computer classes that covers topics such as operating systems, programming languages, and software applications used in specific fields such as engineering or graphic design.
- Assist students with academic and personal issues that may be impacting their performance in the classroom.
- Conduct teacher training workshops on effective uses of technology in the classroom.
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Valid State Certification is helpful but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroom.
- Standard and expectation of high achievement in the classroom.
- Self‑directed, motivated, and willing to be a team player.
Salary Range: $48,500.00 – $50,500.00; negotiable based on level of education, experience, and work history.
Job Type: Full‑time.
