As a Teacher Assistant, you'll partner with classroom teachers to bring learning to life, helping to plan and deliver engaging instruction, support student growth through meaningful assessments, and create a classroom environment where every child feels safe, supported, and inspired to thrive. Essential Responsibilities Instructional Planning & Delivery
  • Collaborate with the teacher to plan and deliver rigorous and engaging instruction.
  • Implement a research‑based curriculum aligned to grade‑level standards and goals.
  • Use consistent school‑wide practices and diverse, individualized methods to engage students.
  • Modify, differentiate, and extend learning experiences to engage all students, including those with disabilities, integrating IEP recommendations.
  • Collaborate to design engaging, differentiated experiences that support English Language Learners (ELL).
  • Encourage student voice and ownership by promoting a student‑led classroom.
Student Assessment
  • Support assessment of student learning.
  • Track and support students as they work toward goals, ensuring no milestone is missed.
  • Provide constructive, timely feedback that builds confidence and drives improvement.
  • Use data to shape stronger instruction and refine practice.
Learning Environment
  • Create a safe, supportive, and welcoming classroom.
  • Model and teach AMBER's core values so students live them daily.
  • Build a warm, structured, encouraging culture celebrating risk‑taking and creativity.
  • Reinforce routines, expectations, and positive behaviors consistently.
  • Partner with families to strengthen the home‑school connection and ensure students feel supported everywhere they learn.
Student Support & School Culture
  • Monitor student behavior during lunch and recess coverage.
  • Keep families informed through report cards, conferences, and ongoing updates.
  • Participate in professional development and model growth for students.
  • Welcome feedback as a tool to grow and elevate student experience.
  • Model teamwork, respect, and positivity to demonstrate collaboration.
  • Bring optimism and flexibility to challenges, building a resilient community.
  • Lift up colleagues, share ideas, and contribute to a culture of encouragement and continuous improvement.
  • Serve on school committees and events, strengthening community across Amber.
Required Experience and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • New York State Teacher Assistant Certification.
  • Familiarity with high‑quality curriculum programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Comfort engaging children and working with parents/caregivers.
  • Commitment to creating a safe, responsive learning environment.
  • Capacity to develop trusting relationships based on respect and communication.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple obligations with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Completion of pre‑employment fingerprinting and reference check.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Will perform other duties as assigned.
