After School Substitute Educator

Compensation: $20 - $22 per hour (depending on experience).
Location: Howard Beach, NY Starting Date: Current school year

• After Care Part Time Flexible Schedule Monday to Friday from 1:45pm to 6pm

Apollo After School offers after-school care and enrichment clubs at local schools. We seek outgoing, personable, and reliable teachers for our school-based programs in the area. No degree? No problem! While a degree in education is highly valued, applicants with relevant experience or a related experience will be considered. We are seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, patient, and caring individuals who are flexible, responsible, and who have a real, genuine passion for working with children and making a positive impact on their lives.

• Provide a high-quality learning environment and manage activities that extend the school day
• Assist in the implementation of classroom curriculum and weekly lesson plans when needed
• Ensure the safety and security of children enrolled
• Commitment to follow the agreed schedule and curriculum, and maintain a routine for students
• Effectively attract and retain students through enthusiasm, teaching skills, and patience
• Assist with homework completion

• Ability to command respect and cooperation in an elementary classroom
• Confidence to run a classroom with up to 20 students
• A team player who can collaborate with peers
• Ability to assess and solve problems associated with elementary-aged children
• Ability to create and maintain a fun, caring, and responsive educational environment
• Responsiveness and willingness to support our team on an On-Call basis
• Minimum of one year working with school-age youth, ages 4-10, in an educational setting
