The Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) is sponsored by the New York State Education Department and St John's University. It provides support services to high school students who may pursue a college education with necessary academic skill development, motivation, and personal growth. The Math Teacher will deliver instruction and tutorial services in mathematics during the LPP Saturday and after-school program located at John Adams High School or the SJU campus.

• Provide instruction in mathematics (pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry).
• Collaborate with High School Liaisons and/or school personnel to design and implement academic interventions for students.
• Assist in coordinating tutorial services; conduct tutorial training; and supervise tutorial staff.
• Exhibit strong classroom management skills that enable learning for all students.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Director.

• Master's Degree in Education.
• State certification or college teaching experience.
• Three years of teaching experience at the secondary or collegiate level.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of NYS Learning Standards and Common Core.
• Ability to inspire and motivate youth.
• Deep-rooted passion for serving students and helping them achieve their goals.
• Preference given to an educator who currently serves as a full-time teacher at the target high school.

• Hourly salary:
  Min: $50 (based on experience and education).
• Hours:
  
  6 hours weekly, some evenings or weekends required (some hybrid remote options may be available via Zoom for evening or weekend parent meetings and/or workshops only).
• Evenings or weekends are substituted when necessary and are not an addition to the regular work schedule — 10 hours weekly max.
• Position Type:
  Part-Time (Saturdays only, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm).

• In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly salary for this position is $50.
