Admissions and Enrollment Advisor - School of Education
The Hunter College School of Education is dedicated to the preparation of deeply thoughtful, knowledgeable, and highly effective teachers, administrators, and counselors. We are committed to educating future professionals who will significantly impact the academic, intellectual, social, and emotional development of their students and clients. The School of Education is comprised of over 3,000 graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in 50+ programs, taught by 75 full-time and over 300 part-time faculty, with school and clinical partners throughout New York City.
The Admissions and Enrollment Advisor plays a crucial role in supporting the School of Education’s Office of Admissions and Recruitment to ensure a diverse, strong, and consistent applicant pool, as well as robust new student enrollment. Working under the supervision of the Admissions Director at the School of Education, the Admissions and Enrollment Advisor will:
- Assist in the development and implementation of an effective School of Education yield plan to meet enrollment targets in alignment with College and SOE goals.
- Work directly with prospective students to foster a sense of belonging and guide them through application creation, successful submission, and enrollment into the School of Education.
- Advise students through the admissions and enrollment processes via individual and group sessions, phone calls, and email.
- Screen graduate applications to verify and determine eligibility for faculty review, with attention to program-specific and certification requirements.
- Guide newly admitted students through enrollment steps, admissions requirements, and transfer of credit/exemptions.
- Schedule and manage segmented onboarding communications to drive engagement and enrollment among applicants and admitted students.
- Coordinate yield efforts and new student orientation in collaboration with the Office of Academic and Student Affairs and faculty, including outreach to new students.
- Assist with data collection, reporting and operational updates, including application and enrollment tracking and maintaining accurate student records.
Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with college or graduate school admissions offices, including application support and enrollment strategies
- Knowledge of People Soft (CUNYFirst) and Slate a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work with a diverse constituency of student, faculty, alumni, and staff populations.
- Excellent analytical, planning, and project management skills. Must be goal-oriented with time management skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Conducts and coordinates student recruiting and other admissions activities.
- Counsels prospective, transfer, and current students on their academic goals and how they may be achieved at the College, and assists them in preparing academic plans
- Provides referrals to other College departments as needed to further assist student/applicant
- Conducts follow-up with students from inquiry stage to registration
- Reviews applications and provides preliminary recommendations on admissions
- Participates in recruitment programs such as open house sessions, and direct recruiting activities
- Performs related duties as assigned.
