Teaching Assistant, Elementary (Promise Academy I)

Immediate hire. Supports a Lead Teacher in a Harlem Children’s Zone classroom. Passionate about helping all scholars reach and graduate from college.

Base pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year

• • Bachelor’s degree – required
• • Background in early childhood education or related field – required
• • Valid New York State Teaching Assistant Certification (or completion within 30 days of hire) – required

• Support the Lead Teacher in lesson delivery and student learning.
• Help students achieve grade‑level standards while maintaining high academic and personal expectations.
• Manage the classroom in the teacher’s absence and substitute in other classrooms as needed.
• Enforce school policies on student conduct and discipline.
• Assist with student arrival, dismissal, and transitions.
• Engage in extracurricular activities and contribute to program planning.
• Address behavioral and emergency situations following school policies.
• Monitor and report students’ academic, physical, and emotional well‑being.
• Collect and submit data in a timely manner.
• Attend staff meetings and supervisory conferences.

• Monday – Friday, 7:40 am – 4:00 pm.
• Opportunity to work Saturdays during test‑prep season for additional compensation.
• 12‑month position.
