Location: New York

Collegiate's Lower School seeks a warm, flexible, and dependable part‑time substitute teacher to support our youngest learners (Kindergarten through Grade
4) on an as‑needed basis.

The substitute teacher will help maintain a nurturing, structured, and joyful learning environment, following plans left by the classroom teacher and supporting students' learning and wellbeing throughout the day. Duties may include classroom instruction, recess, lunch coverage, and dismissal support, as needed.

This is a great opportunity for educators who enjoy working with elementary‑aged children and want to stay connected to classroom teaching while becoming part of the Lower School community at Collegiate.

Regular substitute hours are 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Essential Duties
  • Assists and guides students through lessons;
  • Follows the prepared lesson plan provided by regular teacher or department chair;
  • Facilitates a warm and safe classroom environment;
  • Takes attendance;
  • Covers, as needed, any scheduled additional duties (e.g., homeroom, recess, lunch);
  • Collaborates professionally and collegially with other teachers and specialist teachers;
  • Positively contributes to the School community and embodies the School's values of respect, kindness, and integrity;
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education or related subject field required. Master's degree or higher preferred. Must possess a minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience or working with school‑aged children.
