The Department Of The History Of Art And Design At Pratt Institute (both Brooklyn And Manhattan Campuses), Is Creating a Pool Of Part-time Faculty Applicants For The Fall 2024 Semester To Teach In The Following Areas
- Art History Survey Courses (Ancient to Medieval; Renaissance to Modern/Contemporary)
- History of Design Survey Courses (History of Interior Design, History of Industrial Design, History of Communications Design)
- Asian Art
- African Art
- Latin American/Pre-Columbian Art
- New Media

Examples of Duties
- Teach part-time courses in Art History or Design History, covering areas such as Ancient to Medieval, Renaissance to Modern/Contemporary Art, or the History of Interior, Industrial, and Communications Design at both the Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses.
- Engage with a diverse student body by fostering an inclusive learning environment, leveraging expertise in specialized areas such as Asian Art, African Art, Latin American/Pre-Columbian Art, or New Media, while promoting the values of Pratt’s creative learning community.
Typical Qualifications
- Art History Survey Courses: we require that candidates have an MA in the History of Art or the History of Design; ABD or PhD, and teaching experience beyond the TA level is preferred.
- History of Design Survey Courses: we require that candidates have an MA in the History of Design or the History of Art; ABD or PhD, and teaching experience beyond the TA level is preferred.
- Asian Art, African Art, Latin American/Pre-Columbian Art, New Media: we require that candidates be at least ABD, PhD and teaching experience are preferred.
Pay Rate: $1,500 - $1,950 per contact hour.
