FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The State University of New York Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC), administered by New York City College of Technology/CUNY, offers tuition-free academic and workforce training programs to eligible New York State residents. BEOC is committed to fostering equity, access, and opportunity through transformative education and holistic student support.

Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC) provide academic instruction, vocational training, and support to educationally and economically disadvantaged adults. EOC Lecturers perform teaching and related faculty functions in their area(s) of expertise, including student advisement, curriculum development, and activities to advance the Centers? educational goals.

We invite applications for a full-time EOC Lecturer in Humanities, Professional Skills, and Human Services to join our instructional faculty. This position supports current and future programming designed to promote foundational academic achievement, workforce readiness, and career exploration in public service, education, and nonprofit fields.

Instructional areas may include (but are not limited to):

  • Developmental English (College Preparation: Reading & Writing)
  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL - all levels)
  • High School Equivalency (Reading, Writing, Social Studies)
  • Professional Skills Development (Workplace communication, conflict resolution, time management)
  • Human Services Fundamentals (Introduction to the field, ethics, boundaries, trauma-informed care)
  • Career Pathways to CASAC, peer support, case management, and nonprofit service
  • Civic Engagement, Community Advocacy, and College Readiness

Lecturers will deliver inclusive, student-centered instruction, design outcomes-based learning experiences, support persistence and engagement, and collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and academic assessment.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master?s degree or higher in education, humanities, social work, public service, or a related field
  • Three to five years of instructional experience with adult or nontraditional learners
  • Background in social services, human services, or nonprofit work
  • Familiarity with CASAC or peer specialist training models
  • Experience in trauma-informed and culturally responsive pedagogy
  • Proficiency with educational technology and blended learning strategies
  • Demonstrated commitment to access, equity, and student success
Compensation

$84,202 - $86,721. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
