Overview

The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan is seeking an educator to teach 6th-7th grade students in Jewish Journeys, our B-Mitzvah program, for . The educator will have an expanded teacher role for students and families and will have administrative support. This in-person, 4 afternoons per week position (Monday–Thursday) begins in the fall and includes teaching four classes and coordinating with families. This is not a BM tutoring position.

Salary range: $20K-$24K for this 9-month role.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Teach 6th–7th grade students in Jewish Journeys, our B-Mitzvah program, for .
  • Serve an expanded teacher role for students and families with administrative support.
  • Teach four separate classes and work with families; in-person, Monday–Thursday afternoons starting in fall.
  • Collaborate with families; plan and deliver instruction for middle school learners.
  • Note:

    This is not a tutoring position.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Prior classroom experience teaching middle school students
  • An innovative approach to teaching Jewish content
  • Ability and willingness to work with students and parents as they approach bar/bat mitzvah
  • Interest in working with unaffiliated families with little to no prior knowledge
  • Availability to teach in-person four afternoons:
    Monday–Thursday
