Medgar Evers College (MEC), a nationally recognized leader in urban-serving education, is one of twenty-five colleges within the dynamic City University New York (CUNY) System. Named for the late civil‑rights leader, Medgar Wiley Evers (1925‑1963), the College’s mission is to develop and maintain high quality, professional, career‑oriented undergraduate degree programs in the context of liberal education. Located in Central Brooklyn, MEC was established in 1970 with a mandate to meet the educational and social needs of the Central Brooklyn community.

The DuBois Bunche Center for Public Policy (DBC) located in the School of Business at Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York (CUNY) in the heart of Central Brooklyn, was founded in 1994 by Dr. Edison O. Jackson. The mission of DBC is to empower and cultivate the work of a new generation of scholar activities and advocacy dedicated to identifying progressive solutions to the challenges confronting urban communities in the U.S. and throughout the African Diaspora.
DBC establishes, organizes, and completes research agendas for Black New Yorkers with a key focus on Central Brooklyn.
Reporting directly to the Dean of the School of Business, the Higher Education Associate will be the Chief Operating Officer of the DuBois Bunche Center and will manage the day‑to‑day operations of the DuBois Bunche Center for Public Policy (DBC).
In addition to the CUNY Title overview, duties will include but are not limited to:
- Manage daily operations of the DuBois Bunche Center for Public Policy.
- Develop and oversee research agendas focusing on public policy issues affecting urban communities and the African Diaspora.
- Ensure the successful implementation of the center’s programs, events, and initiatives.
- Lead and participate in round tables, forums, and conferences to connect policymakers with governmental and non‑governmental actors.
- Lead outreach to community leaders and other stakeholders to foster partnerships and collaboration.
- Make presentations to engage and educate the public on the center’s research and initiatives.
- Oversee the development and execution of research projects that identify trends, issues, and best practices in public policy.
- Facilitate the dissemination of research findings through academic journals, traditional media, and new media outlets.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of staff associated with the center.
- Maintain detailed records of all research projects, meetings, and activities aligned with the center’s mission.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and six years’ relevant experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Experience leading literary programs and fostering literary conversations and programs among a range of authors, scholars, and creative artists.
- Relevant background and experience in literature, creative writing, or professional writing
- Strong interest in and commitment to promoting literature, the humanities, and the work of the
- Center for Black Literature
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Manages a College's specialized academic and/or research center operations under the direction of a senior administrator.
- Implements and monitors comprehensive curriculum development program; makes recommendations to improve Center policies and procedures
- Delivers a schedule of courses and workshops; analyzes programming outcomes
- Oversees Center's budget and daily administration
- Assists Director with developing funding and resource strategies
- Prepares reports for management; may write grant proposals
- May manage professional and/or clerical staff
- May act on behalf of Director in his/her absence
- Performs related duties as assigned.

$105,816 - $118,070
