DescriptionCamp Ramah in the Berkshires is a vibrant Jewish summer camp community where children grow in a beautiful and safe setting, surrounded by lifelong friendships and inspired by dedicated role models. From sports to the arts, swimming to outdoor adventure, camp life is infused with the values and traditions of Conservative Judaism: love of mitzvot, Hebrew language, and the land and people of Israel;
a commitment to inclusion and Tikkun Olam; and the joy of learning and prayer. Ramah is a transformative Jewish experience for campers, staff, families, and the broader New York metropolitan community—a place where Judaism is lived, Shabbat is cherished, and every moment is elevated.
Rosh Mitbachon provides vision, leadership, and oversight for all culinary education programming s role supervises and mentors cooking educators and instructors while designing and implementing engaging, age-appropriate culinary experiences for campers. Rosh Mitbachon works closely with camp leadership to integrate food education into the broader camp experience, including Jewish learning, sustainability, creativity, and community building.
Summer Dates:
June 8 – August 14
- Design curriculum for baking, meal preparation, and campfire cooking
- Supervise, train, and support staff
- Ensure adherence to safety, hygiene, and food‑handling best practices
- Coordinate scheduling, supplies, and kitchen and outdoor cooking spaces
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and creative learning environment
- Serve as a role model and active participant in Camp Jewish life
- Room and board provided for the full camp season

Requirements- Strong background in culinary arts, food education, or a related field
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience (camp, education, culinary, or youth programs preferred)
- Comfort managing both indoor kitchens and outdoor cooking environments
- Organized, collaborative, creative, and safety‑focused
- Experience integrating Jewish learning into programming
