Battery Park Montessori is looking for a Substitute Montessori Preschool Teacher to join our team in the new year.
Battery Park Montessori is New York City’s only Montessori school offering a fully immersive Spanish and Mandarin experience for children from Nursery One through Kindergarten. - You are knowledgeable about the Montessori curriculum and philosophy and are able to successfully employ effective teaching practices. If you are not Montessori credentialed, you are willing and eager to learn about it.
- You enjoy collaborating with fellow teachers and are willing to heed direction and feedback from them.
- You are dedicated to internationalism and anti‑bias teaching practices and maintain a positive school culture for everyone in the community.
- You have exceptional communication skills with students and teachers and have a nurturing, supportive approach.
- You are trustworthy, flexible, and dependable.
- Create welcoming, functional, safe, attractive, de‑cluttered, stimulating, and physically comfortable learning environments.
- May assist children during bathroom or hygiene‑related activities.
- Work with and follow the team’s guidelines with regards to classroom schedule, activities, and norms.
- Step in for teachers who are absent and follow the guidance of the other teachers in the classroom or of the Parent Liaison.
- Montessori teaching experience preferred.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred). - Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience. - Fluent in English (able to successfully attend workshops, read professional information and work collaboratively in the language).
- Legally authorized to work now and in the future in the United States.
