Our Middle School at School in the Square is our founding campus at S2, where we began our belief that a culture of care leads to a culture of achievement. Our middle school is located in Washington Heights where our programs are designed with students' personal interests and learning styles in mind. S2’s program is dedicated to providing each student with the tools and support to become lifelong learners.

We are looking for dedicated, mission‑aligned teachers across grade levels 6‑8. Reporting to our Principal and in collaboration with a diverse and committed School Leadership Team (SLT), you will support our efforts to ensure high academic standards while also focusing on the social‑emotional needs of all students. Responsibilities- Design and deliver engaging, interactive, hands‑on, creative learning experiences for students in grades 6‑8.
- Integrate technology across instruction to enhance student learning.
- Use assessment data to drive instruction and personalize learning plans.
- Differentiation of curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Implement co‑teaching and ELL strategies.
- Apply restorative practices, anti‑racism education, culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy, and trauma‑informed practices.
- Collaborate with the SLT to support social‑emotional and academic growth.
- Reflect on instruction and apply constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
- Skilled in current teaching methods and educational pedagogy including interactive, hands‑on learning, technology use, assessment, differentiation, co‑teaching, and ELL strategies.
- A strategic, solutions‑focused thinker with strong communication and planning skills.
- A strong relationship builder who finds personal fulfillment in teaching and coaching students in both academic and non‑instructional situations.
- Familiar with restorative practices and committed to anti‑racism education, culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy, and trauma‑informed practices.
- Self‑reflective with the capacity to accept and implement feedback to improve instruction.
- Graduate of a Bachelor's Degree in Education or a relevant content area.
- Current possessor of a valid New York State Teaching Certification or willing to enroll in a New York State Teaching Certification Program and obtain such certification within two years.
