American University of Beirut: Assistant Professor in Translation Studies

Overview

The Department of English at the American University of Beirut is seeking to fill a position of assistant professor in translation studies to begin August 15, 2016.

• Ph.D. by the time of appointment, in translation studies, comparative literature, or another field of literary study that reflects a clear focus on translation theories and practices.
• Fluent in English and Arabic, with an advanced level in at least one additional language.
• Experience in translation.

• Contribute to the existing minor in translation (housed in the Department of English and the Department of Arabic and Near Eastern Languages) and to the development of a new MA in translation.
• Teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels; participate in the collegial governance of the Department and University.
• Maintain a teaching load of 3/2 with generous support for junior faculty research.
• Engage in research, teaching, and service as a member of AUB faculty.
