Program &Job Description
PWC is looking for qualified Teaching Artists to work with students across a variety of programs. Candidates will be experienced in teaching their respective art form (Music, Dance/Movement, Visual Art, Theater, STEAM, etc.) to groups of children in a school setting. They should be able to work with PWC staff and school administrations to design programming that meets the needs of the school communities we serve.

- At least 2 years’ experience as a Teaching Artist in a relevant art form, ideally in NYC public schools.
- Strong understanding of arts integration best practices and strategies.
- Focus on the intersection of the arts and Social Emotional Learning/Competencies.
- Strong collaboration skills with classroom teachers, other teaching artists, social workers, administrators, etc.
- Experience in lesson planning and creating curriculum for K-12 students.
- Implement an inquiry‑based approach to teaching and learning that encourages student engagement, creation, and reflection.
- Be fingerprinted by the NYC Department of Education (PETS Certified) and currently eligible to work in NYC public schools.
- Willing and available to plan with partner teachers, social workers, and school staff as necessary.
- Submit all paperwork, such as lesson plans and timesheets, in accordance with program guidelines.
- Attend and actively participate in all required orientations, professional learning workshops, and meetings.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and school administrators.
- Maintain open communication with Arts Education Department staff.
