The Mid‑Day Assistant Teacher fills in for head teachers when needed, providing instruction, social‑emotional support, lunch and dismissal coverage, lesson planning, and administrative tasks for Upper School classrooms (10 or fewer students).
Expectations- Assume head teacher responsibilities per classroom teacher’s direction
- Cover lunch period duties and end‑of‑day dismissal
- Report post‑absence on what was accomplished
- Develop & implement “emergency” lesson plans for unexpected absences
- Support homeroom classes with interdisciplinary lessons when substitute coverage is not needed
- Perform administrative & clerical tasks for faculty and administration on non‑substitute days
- Adhere to school policies, conduct, and mission promotion
- Utilize Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets)
- Attend faculty/staff meetings and required events (open houses, curriculum night, carnivale)
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, a related field, or a humanities‑related field
- Experience teaching students in grades 6‑12
- At least three years of full‑time teaching or teacher’s assistant experience
- Master’s degree in education, special education, or related field (or in progress)
- Special education training in gifted education and twice‑exceptional youth
- Secondary (any subject) and/or special education teaching credential
- Experience teaching twice‑exceptional youth
School setting located on the 5th and 6th floors, with an elevator. Regular walking to various locations; occasional travel to the Upper School campus two blocks away.
