SUBSTITUTE TEACHING ASSISTANT
Position: Guilderland Elementary School is seeking a dependable and student-centered Substitute Teaching Assistant to cover a maternity leave anticipated to be 6-8 weeks. The Substitute Teaching Assistant will support classroom instruction and student needs under the direction of a certified teacher, contributing to a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment. This is a temporary position for the duration of the leave.
Minimum Qualifications
: NYS Teaching Assistant Certification,
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the classroom teacher in implementing daily instructional activities and lesson plans
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning and promote skill development
- Assist students with academic, social, behavioral, and/or physical needs as appropriate Brooke>
- Support classroom routines
EXPORT transitions, and organization of instructional materials - Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and support staff as needed
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival/dismissal, or other assigned times
- Maintain student confidentiality and follow all school and district policies
Help maintain a safe, structured, and respectful classroom environment
Job Qualifications: High schoolcircle diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education or a related field preferred;
Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting preferred;
Ability to follow direction and work collaboratively as part of a team;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
