Job Description

Adjunct Instructor – AI for Accessible Learning (In-Person, Non-Credit)
Hunter College Continuing Education Programs

Location:

New York, NY (In-Person, Main Campus)
Term:
February 2026 (Grant-Funded Pilot)

Hunter College Continuing Education is seeking an adjunct instructor with expertise in artificial intelligence and applied AI tools to teach a short, grant-funded in-person pilot course focused on AI-supported, accessible learning.

This non-credit course will serve Hunter College students referred through the Office of Access Ability and will explore how AI tools—such as conversational agents and adaptive supports—can be used to personalize learning experiences, support diverse cognitive and sensory needs, and improve access to humanities-based educational content. The humanities serve as the application domain; subject‑matter specialization in the humanities is welcome but not required.

Course

Overview
  • Fully in-person instruction on Hunter College’s main campus
  • February term (grant-funded pilot)
  • Approximately 12 total instructional hours over the duration of the course
  • Anticipated schedule of two class meetings per week, subject to final confirmation
  • Students enrolled through referral from the Hunter College Office of Access Ability
  • Part of a Microsoft-supported pilot initiative focused on AI for personalized education

The course will incorporate a Microsoft-supported AI agent developed in collaboration with Hunter College partners. A general framework and institutional support will be provided; instructors are not expected to build AI systems from scratch, but will actively demonstrate and apply AI tools in an instructional setting.

Responsibilities
  • Lead in-person class sessions demonstrating applied uses of AI in learning contexts
  • Explain AI tools and concepts to college students with varying technical backgrounds
  • Use AI tools to support accessibility, individualized pacing, and multiple learning modalities
  • Collaborate with Continuing Education staff and campus partners on course delivery
  • Maintain an inclusive, supportive classroom environment aligned with accessibility best practices
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or applied AI tools
  • Experience teaching, training, or presenting technical material to non-expert audiences
  • Comfort working in a hands-on, classroom-based instructional setting
  • Strong interest in accessibility, inclusive design, and educational applications of AI
Preferred (Not Required)
  • Experience working with students with disabilities or accessibility-focused programs
  • Background in education, instructional technology, or training
  • Familiarity with humanities-related content or cultural institutions
