Position SummaryThe Department of Computer Science at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) seeks candidates to fill a University Lecturer position. Candidates are expected to teach introductory programming courses and advanced courses in support of our undergraduate and graduate programs. The successful candidate will also be involved in creating course content and materials with a focus on hands‑on experiential and project‑based learning.
EssentialFunctions
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
- Create course content and materials.
- Successful candidates must have an MS degree in Computer Science or a related area (a PhD degree is preferred).
- Candidates should demonstrate an expert grasp of knowledge in one or more of the following areas: data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data structures and algorithms, software engineering, operating systems, computer networks, and databases, either through a record of teaching excellence, or through industrial experience. Knowledge in computer science pedagogy is a plus.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills are required in order to communicate effectively with students in person and online.
Bargaining UnitPSA
Salary InformationIn compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the starting salary for this position is $65,000.00-$80,000.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.

NJIT has recently expanded its graduate programs to Jersey City, just across the Hudson River from the financial district of Lower Manhattan in New York City, where it serves the many working professionals in that region. Instructional staff are expected to teach at this site as needed.
