Summary/Objective: The School Psychologist(s) working for Happiness House will work collaboratively with the Director of Evaluations and the Children’s Program Director to perform duties as described below. The School Psychologist will work to build rapport with the Preschool Staff so appropriate services are being provided by staff on site. In addition to performing the essential functions of the School Psychologist position, other training opportunities may arise due to the need for staff training across all affiliated agencies.
Responsibilities include:
- Imparts agency philosophy of “Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential” to children, families, program staff, and community resources.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of A.B.A. concepts, practices, techniques, and is fluent at providing each in a school setting to help support challenging behaviors within individual classroom and common school environments.
- Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy.
- Provides consultation, in-service, and training to teachers, clinicians, and other staff members as needed.
- Collaborates with the classroom teachers and staff to conduct functional behavior assessment, as well as the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans required by agency guidelines and New York State regulations for behavioral concerns.
- Meets on a regular scheduled basis with classroom staff, including general education and special education teachers, to discuss students, behavior documentation/plans, and overall IEP goals.
- Provides consultation and direct observation to all classrooms on a regular basis.
- Designs behavior programs as needed for individual children.
- Oversees implementation of behavior management programs and behavioral philosophy throughout programs.
- Collaborates with agency specialists to support programming and educational needs of students and staff across agency sites.
- Provides support and consultation to staff as needed through training of staff, preparation of materials, and facilitating the implementation of individualized and/or classroom-wide behavioral programming.
- Provides support and consultation to parents as needed to address developmental milestones and behavioral strategies that may be applicable for the home environment.
- Meets regularly with Director of Evaluations and Children’s Program Director(s) to discuss child, family, classroom, and department concerns, needs, and strengths.
- Attends CPSE meetings as needed in consultation with Director of Evaluations and Children’s Program Director
- Attends Human Right Committee meetings as needed for Children’s or other agency needs
- Supervises student interns and volunteers when appropriate.
- Participates in conferences, workshops, and in-service training as needed or recommended to enhance job skills and personal growth and development.
- Adheres to Agency’s policies and procedures as well as department guidelines.
- Performs other duties at the discretion of the Director of Evaluations, Children’s Program Director, or designee.

3+ Years
work experience Minimum Qualifications:
- NYS Certification as School Psychologist
- Three years’ experience, preferably working with young children with developmental disabilities and their families.
- Experience in early childhood development and family intervention preferred
- Knowledge of available community resources, including typical preschool programs.
- Valid NYS driver’s license
- Good Organization Skills
- Good Communication Skills
- Competent Computer Skills using Microsoft Office and other Web Applications
- Good Oral and Written Communication Skills
- Able to supervise others with competency
