Assistant Professor, Economics; Tenure-track

The Department of Economics at the University at Buffalo seeks to hire, at the level of Assistant Professor (tenure-track), an economist specializing in industrial organization, microeconomic theory, and/or macroeconomics. Candidates should have research interests related to artificial intelligence, broadly defined. This might include the effects of AI adoption on firms and industries, the economic analysis of AI algorithms, the design of public policy around AI use, or the application of machine learning to data analysis.

This position requires a PhD in hand or firmly expected by August 2027.

Candidates are expected to be active researchers with the potential to excel in publication and build a strong scholarly reputation in economics. We especially welcome applications from advanced assistant professors with a demonstrated track record of research success.

Responsibilities also include undergraduate and graduate teaching and advising, and participating in service to the department, university, and discipline.
