- Uphold the school's mission statement, inclusive practices, commitment to social justice, and all activities of Calhoun's Upper School
- Support the Upper School Director as an instructional leader in the Upper School, responsible for its day-to-day life and program; support the work of upper school faculty members in the performance of their work; support the Upper School Director in all aspects of the upper school division
- Work in partnership with the Director in articulating the Upper School curriculum, programs, expectations, behavioral guidelines, and other information necessary to ensure faculty and students are fully informed, consistent with their roles
- Serve on the Upper School Leadership Team to support the individual needs of upper school students
- Work with parents and children in the upper school to develop effective relationships and provide effective feedback
- Support the hiring process and professional development work of upper school faculty
- Work with admissions to increase and maintain enrollment
- Maintain a healthy and safe upper school atmosphere for children
- Support regular meetings with upper school faculty, on both routine school matters and with the exchange of ideas on issues of educational/philosophical interest and concern
- Show respect and empower upper school faculty to meet their full potential, and encourage respectful interactions
- Collaborate with colleagues intra- and cross-divisionally to ensure alignment and student progress.
- Attend faculty meetings and conferences.
- Maintain consistent and clear communication with faculty and families.
- Engage fully in the wider life of the School.
- Demonstrate strong commitment to and alignment with Calhoun's mission and values.
- Strong affinity for, and commitment to, progressive, humanistic education.
- Interest in teaching and working with Upper School students.

The employee is required to stand, sit, and navigate the classroom continuously for extended durations, including the lifting and transportation of classroom materials and equipment as necessary.

Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Experience in school leadership, instructional coaching, or grade-level leadership.
- Commitment to diversity, collegiality, and school mission.
- A solid understanding of children's academic, social, and emotional development.
- Prior experience as a teacher and/or administrator of upper school-age children.
- Deep appreciation for student-centered, engaging, and innovative teaching practices.
- A desire to work collaboratively with a group of talented colleagues
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Master’s Degree in Education or related field.
- Experience working in a progressive school environment.
- Experience supporting student behavior systems and restorative practices.
