Lead Teacher

Job Description

Lead Teacher for all subjects (English (ELA), Math, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education (PE), Special Electives, Fine Arts) in grades 9‑12. Responsible for developing and implementing curriculum, fostering a positive school culture, engaging families, promoting a growth mindset, and ensuring student success.

• Adapt and execute a rigorous, standards‑aligned curriculum and assess student progress.
• Develop academically rigorous lessons, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments.
• Use data to inform instructional decisions and provide daily feedback to students.
• Demonstrate strong pedagogy and collaborate with the school team and across KIPP Capital Region.
• Help develop a school‑wide culture that supports students, teachers, and families; attend staff meetings; communicate openly.
• Establish and maintain strong communication with parents, be available for open houses and conferences.
• Maintain a calm, positive learning environment and enforce school values and policies.
• Pursue professional growth, provide and receive constructive feedback, and participate in ongoing professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid NYS teaching licensure or willingness to pursue state certification.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a school educator, preferably in a charter or public school environment.
• Prior experience working in schools and urban communities preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours.
